Hospital Stay — Days 5 & 6

Day 5 and 6 — Yesterday was a very bad pain day so I don't remember a lot of what went on. I know I got given some glorious balloons and that I received a beautiful care package.. But most of the day, I just slept slept slept. 

. I was still in a lot of pain in the evening, I had vomited twice, and my stoma was producing next to no output, so the doctors sent me down for an abdominal X-ray to make sure there wasn't any blockages. Thankfully there wasn't but there was still talk of me getting an ng tube put in. . That night, I'd had morphine to help with the pain... But man does morphine give me some weeiiirrddd dreams! * * * This morning, my stoma had finally passed something and my pain had eased considerably. I was put back on a diet of free fluids and there was no longer talk of an ng tube! . I was feeling a lot better than yesterday.. I actually felt awake today! I managed to get up and shower myself.. And even though this made me very fatigued, it felt good! . I tried to have a r&r day today and was about to have a pre-lunch snooze when there was a bit of commotion! The gentleman who was in the bed diagonally opposite from me had been needing to use his bowels all morning.. So he'd be sitting on the toilet for about 2 1/2 hours.. The nurse eventually convinced him to come back to bed, and as soon as he stood up, he fell flat! There was a Med call sent out and nurse after nurse after nurse rushed in the room. Doctors came in and out and finally, after about an hour, they managed to get him back in the bed.. But then they promptly took him off to ICU... So I sure hope he's okay! . After all that hussle and bussle, I finally managed to get a snooze in. After I woke up from that, my nurse changed my scar dressing... It's looking like its healing well! . After that, my partner took me outside in a wheelchair so I got out in some fresh air and some sun! We had a few small walks and then headed back up to my room.

. The rest of the evening passed relatively uneventfully.. Had to have some pain meds to get to sleep but apart from that... Nothing very exciting happened.
