Day 7 — Woke up with a sharp, constant ache in my lower abdomen area this morning. Wasn't sure what was going on so took some pain meds and tried to nap through it. . Managed to shower myself again this morning.. This time I washed my hair! Even though it hurt.. It felt good! . The nurses were a bit concerned this morning because my stoma output was high but my bladder output was low.. So they thought that I might be dehydrated and that all the liquid i was drinking, was going straight through me. . But then the doctor arrived and was like "hi, you can go home today" I was like "Um.. No?! I haven't eaten solid foods yet, I don't have any supplies, my drain is still on and so are the rods in my stoma... Maybe one more day" The nurses were all quite dumbfounded when they heard what the doctor had said. But needless to say... I'm here for another day at least. . Good news is that after lunch, the nurses took my drain out! Bloody hell that was a VERY strange sensation... Think about 30cm of tubing that's been sitting in your belly being yanked out in about 5 seconds. But, this seemed to be the cause of my abdo pain from earlier. Cause that's reduced significantly since they pulled that out 😂

. I've managed to change the bag myself a few times, but because I'm still dehydrated I'm feeling awful and nauseous. The nurses have tried to get a cannula into me to get some hydrating fluids into me, but after 6 tries they still hadn't gotten it in. Then began the wait for a senior doctor to come and try and get one in.

I probably hit my lowest point so far around this time. Just the idea of being poked and prodded and stabbed again and again started to wear me down. I have awful veins and I've gotten past 30 needle pokes for 5 cannulas and 7 blood tests... But with the tremendous support from my amazing fiance, who manged to comfort me and calm me down, I managed to put up my brave face again. I don't know where I would be without the love and support I have from him, and from my mum, and from the amazing collection of friends who have been constantly by my side throughout this whole journey... So thank you 💕 . 10:30pm and a doctor finally shows up... After about 15 minutes of tapping and flicking my veins, he finally found one he is happy with... And the bloody legend got it on the first go!

11:20 and I'm hooked wand ready to go! Hopefully this gets my hydration levels up!
